Where are the jobs for the Engineers?

Dear Engineers (freshers).

This message applies in general to the hardcore branches (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument & Control, Power, Production, Electronics & Communication etc).

The jobs are available in basically 4 different categories for you.

Based on our last week workshop, we summaries the job-selection criteria for Engineers in simple steps.

A. Pure Technical Jobs : Design, R&D
--These candidates are mostly picked up through campus from premier institutes (IITs).
-- Location availability: Very limited.
--Need to travel: Almost ZERO.

B. Technical Jobs : Manufacturing, Maintenance.
--These candidates are mostly picked up through campus from reputed institutes (NITs and likes).
-- Location availability: Remote locations (industrial areas).
--Need to travel: Very little.

C. Semi-technical jobs : Service, Installation.
--Hiring for these posts done locally through advertising, agencies, references.
-- Location availability: Mix.
--Need to travel: A lot.

D. Techno-commercial jobs : Purchase, Sales, Marketing.
--Hiring for these posts done locally through advertising, agencies, references.
-- Location availability: Mix (more in cities).
--Need to travel: A lot.

What I hate the most about being in HR?

HR में काम करते हुए सबसे मुश्किल चीज़ क्या लगती है? किसी ऐसे candidate को "No" कहना, जो सच में interested होता है। हाल ही में मैं एक role के लिए interviews coordinate कर रही थी। दो candidates थे – दोनों ही qualified। लेकिन एक चीज़ जो एक candidate को खास बना रही थी - वो थी उसकी enthusiasm। वो candidate हर step पे follow-up करता, insightful सवाल पूछता, और clearly दिखता था कि वो team का हिस्सा बनना चाहता है। दूसरा candidate थोड़ा ठंडा था - ना ज्यादा interest, ना timely responses। मैंने दोनों के interviews schedule किए। पर management ने उस candidate को select कर लिया, जो कम interested था - और उस genuinely excited candidate को reject कर दिया। जब मुझे rejection mail भेजना पड़ा, दिल टूट गया। और हुआ क्या?
